“Would you like to see two of our finest actresses clad in period garb, screaming hilarious (and ridiculous) profanities at one another? You would? Good.”Vanity Fair
Oscar® winner Olivia Colman and Oscar® nominee Jessie Buckley reunite in this hilarious true tale of a small English village rocked by an obscene letter scandal in the 1920s. When the seemingly pious Edith (Colman) starts receiving letters full of gutter-mouthed profanities, suspicion quickly falls upon her fiery neighbour Rose (Buckley), who has a reputation for colourful language and more colourful behaviour.
As other townsfolk start receiving the foul-mouthed dispatches, Rose is hauled before the courts, and everyone believes her guilty but for one ‘woman police officer’ (who can’t understand why she’s not just a ‘police officer’). Ignoring the ignorance of her male superiors, Officer Gladys Moss is intent on finding the true culprit. An absolutely charming tale of women breaking free from their designated roles from the Me Before You director Thea Sharrock.
