"A piercing, compassionate parable about grace and reconciliation, told with truly Biblical force."
Daily Telegraph UK

Starring Brendan Fraser, in what's been touted as his comeback role, and Sadie Sink, of Stranger Things. The Whale tells the story of a 600 lb reclusive English teacher living with severe obesity, who attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter before his inevitable and looming demise. Deeply moving, incredibly powerful and already an awards season favourite, The Whale Is set to be one of the most critically lauded films of the year. After the world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival 2022, the film received a six-minute standing ovation which has set the tone for the wider reception.

This summer we're thrilled to be partnering again with The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), to include a program of extraordinary short films on selected nights of the season. Each AFTRS presentation will be introduced by part of the crew that made that film, giving you an insight into the past, present and future of Australian film. Prior to the screening of The Whale, the AFTRs presentation of Mud Crab will be shown.
