For anyone who’s ever had a difficult father, a loving sister, or just been part of a complicated family, or for anyone who just loves great film making, this is your film. It will resonate, provoke and entertain, and leave you feeling somehow more complete.

Joachim Trier, director of the fabulous THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD, has created a masterpiece, and certainly one of the best films of the past year. Upon the death of their mother, sisters Nora (Renata Reinsve) and Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas), are reunited with their estranged father Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård), a charismatic and renowned film director.

When he offers Nora, who is a leading stage actress, a part written specifically for her in what he hopes will be his comeback film, unable to forgive him for his absence, she turns him down. But when he then gives her part to an eager young Hollywood star (Elle Fanning), a new hurt emerges, and the two sisters must navigate their complicated relationship with their father and deal with an American star dropped right into the middle of their complex family dynamics. Stunning performances from all, add to the beauty and wisdom of this magnificent work.
