A bonnie and beautiful, against-the-odds Scottish charmer. Bold, poignant, and frequently laugh-out-loud hilarious, I SWEAR tells the extraordinary true story of John Davidson, a young man whose life took a sharp turn in the 1980s when he began to experience the sudden onset of Tourette syndrome.
At a time when the condition was largely unrecognised, John’s behaviour is misunderstood and leads to harsh and inhumane consequences. But in this rousing story, chance encounters with two generous and warm-hearted people provide John with the confidence to make another sharp turn. He begins to educate and change perceptions, raising awareness even among those who once ridiculed him, and he rides the wave of change all the way to Buckingham Palace. Reminiscent of BILLY ELLIOT and PRIDE, this is a story that reaffirms humanity, and gives you plenty of laughs and tears along the way.
