A wonderfully touching and thoughtful film about love lost and the road back, from writer, director, and star, Bradley Cooper (A STAR IS BORN, SILVER LINING PLAYBOOK, MAESTRO et al). Cooper delivers a hilarious supporting role to Will Arnett (who co-wrote the film with Cooper) and Laura Dern.
After many years together Alex (Arnett) and Tess (Dern) have reached an amicable-as-possible separation. But as they begin the awkward stage of figuring out how to live separately while raising two boys and maintaining respect and their friendships, Alex surprisingly discovers a new hobby… stand-up comedy, and, through this, learns a lot about himself and his heartache. So when Tess, unaware, finds herself at a comedy club while on a first date, and her ex appears on stage talking about their relationship, the amicable-as-possible separation is set to be tested in all sorts of ways.
