Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin are enthralling as two mismatched and estranged cousins who reunite for a tour through Poland to honour their beloved and recently departed grandmother. David (Eisenberg) is comfortable being reserved. Benji (Culkin) leans towards being outlandish and outspoken. Joining a group tour, the odd-couple’s personality differences collide as shared rooms, group dynamics and the weight of family history intersect. As writer, director and star, Eisenberg has created a beautifully touching and entertaining comedy / drama, in which Culkin shines.
“This is a story that is perfectly weighted between bleak and warm, poignant and irreverent.” – The Times
“A Real Pain is a hilarious and tender drama that shows us that truly living is the only way to honor those we’ve lost.” – IGN
